Life after blogs

Your life without a computer: what does it look like?

writing

Oh no!!!  No computer, no blog!!!  No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Someone please wake me up from this nightmare existence!

I desperately need a keyboard to purge my soul of all the words struggling to find their way out.  My mouth simply can’t comprehend the foreign language brought forth by my brain.  However, when I bypass the mouth and let it flow from my brain through my finger tips, it culminates to a blissful release.

I have a huge respect for the great writers: William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain and Ernest Hemmingway for instance.  How did they do it.  How did they put quill to paper and get thousand of people to read their work without internet connectivity, without email and online publishers?  Respect!

No, I can’t imagine how they did it or even fathom the possibility of me being able to do it!

Keep out or don’t – this is my space

Who is the one person you hope isn’t reading your blog? Why?

This here site is my playroom so when you choose to enter, you do so entirely by choice.

playroom

Until a while ago I thought that The Ex was not reading my blog.  Not that I mind, but I just didn’t think he would care to.  That was until the day I wrote something which was very close to my heart and, the next time we spoke to make arrangements for Luke’s holiday, he mentioned it.  Ouch!  Or not really.  I’m not sure.  We actually had a really nice chat after that, so I guess it’s all good.

I will never say anything on here that is not:

  • a) True to who I am
  • b) Not true about someone else
  • c) I am not prepared to repeat when coming face-to-face with the person / situation I am writing about.

I treasure each and every one of my regular readers and without them, well, my stats would look pretty pathetic.  Quite frankly, if you are here and you don’t like what I have to say, then perhaps you should be reading elsewhere.

If you are here because you want to: Welcome, from the bottom of my heart.  I may not always be kind and sometimes I may say something which will offend you, but after all, I am true to me and that is all that matters.

Here is what others had to say:

  1. Come in! | Vivir, que no es poco
  2. Daily Prompt: Keep Out « Mama Bear Musings
  3. Daily Prompt: Outside | Books, Music and Movies : my best friends
  4. Daily Prompt: Keep Out #photography | ThisCornerOfTheWoods
  5. The Girl I Did Not Write About | Daily Prompt: Keep Out | likereadingontrains
  6. Daily Prompt: Keep Out | Under the Monkey Tree
  7. The Amends Trip | Lewis Cave
  8. Keep Out | Geek Ergo Sum

  10. Daily Prompt: Keep Out For Now | Mindful Splatter

Great or Greatest?

What makes a blog great? What makes you follow a blog or “like” a post?

There are so many great blogs out there and I discover a new one to follow almost daily. The WordPress Freshly Pressed portal is usually where I would be trawling around for new and interesting posts. Further, as a rule, I follow back anyone who follows me.

Even though I follow a lot of blogs, getting a “like” goes a bit deeper than that. For me to “like” a post, it would have to be something that absolutely speaks to my soul; something that really gets through all the mental clutter of a busy day and makes me think. A re-post goes even deeper! You know that feeling when you hear a song, watch a movie or read a post that sends the goose-pimples racing up and down your body? Better yet, when you read a post and by the time you are done you do the annoyed look around the office to see who is watching as you wipe away the tears? That’s a re-post right there!

Thank you to all the wonderful members of the WordPress family for inspiring me everyday, for making me think, for lifting my spirit, for bringing back to earth, for making me cry! I love reading your words every day!

Awards all around!

One day away from my WordPress family and I come back to not one, but two awards!  Wow, what a lovely surprise.  Thank you both for the nominations; I am honored to have been in your thoughts!

The rules for both are simple:

  1. Link back to the person who nominated you
  2. Display the logo
  3. Nominate 10 bloggers and let them know that they have been nominated – I am going to cheat on this one and nominate the same 10 for both awards.  The reason is very simple.  I only follow people who can enrich my life, thus they are deserving of both awards.

The first one I received was the Sunshine Award from Lim See Yee at Capture Life.  This award also has 10 questions you need to answer, so here they are:

Favorite color – Red or Burnt Orange

Favorite animal – the mighty king of the Jungle, the male Lion

Favorite number – 8 for no specific reason, other than the fact that it is my birth month

Favorite non-alcoholic drink – JAVA!   Coffee is as much part of my life as breathing

Prefer FaceBook or Twitter – for family and close friends it’s Facebook, for followers it’s Twitter

My passion/s – writing and photography

Prefer getting or giving presents – Giving; I just love the look of joy when someone opens a present they really appreciate

Favorite pattern – I love snowflakes

Favorite days of the week – every day is a gift.  The moment you start disliking a day you are opening the door for negativity and I won’t have any of that!

Favorite flower – Hibiscus, the pale pink ones

Secondly, thank you to Debra Mauldin at mamabearmusings for the WordPress Family Award.  She is the mama of our blogosphere and always has a kind word or alternative medicine suggestion which might come in handy.  Not to mention that I am very jealous of where she lives!

There are so many excellent bloggers out there and the nomination process always leaves me fearing that I might insult someone by leaving them out.  I am not sure which of my 10 nominated bloggers accept awards or not, but I am nominating them because their writing or comments have inspired me in some way or another over the last month or two.  So, without further ado, herewith the 10 Bloggers who have spread some sunshine in my life and are truly part of my WordPress Family:

The Rider
Mati Serrano
Misselletea
Bluebead Publications
Louisa
Jeroen Mank
Khana
Draliman
Harsh Reality
Travellin Thru Rambles

Thank you to everyone in my WordPress family for supporting, inspiring, making me cry and making me laugh!

GMO – The Right To Know

Ban-GMO

One of my readers have indicated that they will stop following my blog posts if I keep posting about GMO’s.  I am quite shocked about this, but hey, I guess ignorance is bliss.

I have decided to start a new blog GMO – The Right To Know.  The blog will contain very little of my own writing.  Instead I will scour the web everyday in search of articles and blog posts to share with you.  I invite you to follow the blog and share any and all GMO related information that you might come across.

Awareness is key, let’s get the message out there.

Let’s switch it up

If you could switch blogs with any blogger for a week, with whom would you switch and why?

What an interesting prompt!

switch

I am going to bend the rules a bit and opt for three bloggers that I would love to swap with, in no particular order:

Louisa – We’ve come a long way and have a very similar view on life, love, parenting and relationships. Why would I want to swap with her?  Because the woman is so outspoken and opinionated!  Sometimes I wish I could vent like her, I am sure my life would have a lot less stress!  I love this lady to bits!

Mama Bear Musings – she lives somewhere that sounds absolutely idyllic and have all this knowledge about nature and life and everything else.  Her life seems full and interesting and I’d love to spend some time in her shoes.

Travellin’ thru Rambles – Sometimes I read her stuff and I go “I could have written that!”  I would seriously love to sit down over a good Merlot or two with this lady and swap stories!

Which person, living or dead, would you like to switch places with?
